How The Curious Builder works in four steps: download the PDF, print the cards, pick a card and talk it through, then build and share a photo or add your own idea. For building together with a friend, sibling or grown up, or on your own.
What's inside The Curious Builder: build challenge cards #1 and #2, a Rube Goldberg chain reaction card and a Not Right Now card with tick boxes, each prompt card with a Share A Photo Here space, labelled build challenge cards, space to add your own photo, blank cards for your own ideas, printable PDF.
Printed Curious Builder cards laid out with scissors, torn cardboard, a safety pin and brown tape. One card reads "#1 Build a bridge that can hold weight while using as little material as possible", another is a Rube Goldberg chain reaction card, and a Not Right Now card has a row of tick boxes.

The Curious Builder: 50 Fun STEM Inspired Prompts

£6.99

Keep your kids curious, engaged and creating, without adding to your mental load!

The Curious Builder is a ready to go STEM inspired prompt kit designed for independent, low pressure play. Perfect for ADHD, PDA or any child who thrives on choice, these prompts let kids explore building and engineering ideas at their own pace, while giving you space to breathe.

The download includes:

  • 50 prompts: 40 build prompts, each with a thinking question, plus 10 Rube Goldberg chain reactions

  • 4 blank cards for kids to invent their own challenges

  • A "Not Right Now" card, so grown ups can gently pass on playtime without stress or guilt

  • A photo space on every prompt card, and room on the back for notes, sketches and design plans

  • A welcome card, plus printing instructions for an optional wrap around packaging strip and cover (handy for gifting)

Each prompt is designed to spark hands on experimentation, creativity and critical thinking, with minimal setup and no kit list. Kids can build, design and test with whatever materials are at hand. For example: build a bridge that holds weight using as little material as possible, or create a door that slides, lifts or folds instead of swinging. No worksheets, no pressure, just playful building. Build with a friend, sibling or grown up, or on your own.

Perfect for:

  • ADHD / ND families seeking independent, engaging activities

  • Parents who want to support curiosity without planning or prep

  • Hands on learners who enjoy building, experimenting and problem solving

  • Enjoyed by anyone
